February 4, 2003 Legislative Update

HB 243 and HB 214, two felony animal cruelty bills were assigned to the House Judiciary Committee on 2-4-03. The bill must be called up and passed out of this committee before going to the House floor for a vote of the full membership.

Below is a list of the members of the House Judiciary Committee, the phone extension for their Frankfort office and the counties they serve. The members who are in bold print support the bill and felt strongly enough about the issue to be co-sponsors. Please call and thank them for their support. If you reside in a county represented by a member or members of this committee, I strongly urge you to make personal contact with them and ask them to support these bills. Contact each member of the committee and ask them to support the bills. Have friends and family call. Ask them where they stand on the issue. The legislative message line is 1-800-372-7181. If you get a definite position from any legislator, please let me know. I will be keeping track of who is supporting and who is opposed.
